Recitalist and improvisor, Lara Shari Brodsky has appeared  at diverse venues including The Kennedy Center, The White House, Tenri Cultural Institute, Symphony Space, and The Tribeca Film Festival. Working with hip hop artists, film score composers, playwrights and yogis, her experience includes recordings and international performances across genres, with artists such as Lenny Pickett, Candido, Mos Def, and Bright Sheng.

She is a founding member of Kamala Ensemble, improvising with western classical tonality, jazz, melodies from the heart, and rhythmic motifs of world drumming.

She studied intensively with cellists Jeffrey Zeigler, Marcy Rosen, and Marion Feldman. She also has studies in percussion with Bret Cohen, voice with Katie Agresta, and violin with Amy Horman and Doree Huneven.

Other interests include degrowth and gift economies, sustainable living, and meditation. She has completed trainings in yoga with Sri Dharma Mittra (200 hr LOAY graduate), and is also a certified and actively practicing Reiki healer.
