Recitalist and improvisor, Lara Shari Brodsky has appeared at diverse venues including The Kennedy Center, Tenri Cultural Institute, Symphony Space, and The Tribeca Film Festival. Working with hip hop artists, film score composers, playwrights and yogis, her experience includes recordings and international performances across genres, with artists such as Lenny Pickett, Candido, Mos Def, and Bright Sheng.
She is a founding member of Kamala Ensemble, improvising with western classical tonality, jazz, melodies from the heart, and rhythmic motifs of world drumming.
She studied intensively with cellists Jeffrey Zeigler, Marcy Rosen, and Marion Feldman and is a current student of master drummer Bret Cohen.
Other interests are degrowth and gift economies, Tibetan thangka, a living foods/fruit based diet, and yoga.
